Men arrested and dogs seized over suspected hare coursing in Hopton




Five men were arrested and four dogs were seized after reports of hare coursing in a Suffolk village.

Police were alerted at 9.30am yesterday to Hopton to the suspected hare coursing incident in a field off Fen Street.

A dark coloured vehicle was stopped by police on the A143 in Ixworth and four dogs and a vehicle were seized.

Five men, aged between 19 and 49 from the Kent area, were arrested on suspicion of hunting mammals with dogs.

One of the men, in his 40s, was also arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving.

They were taken to Bury St Edmunds police investigation centre and questioned before being released under investigation.
