Suffolk’s enterprise agency Menta’s innovative approach has won it its first national award.

Bury St Edmunds based Menta was shortlisted for two awards in the prestigious 2014 National Enterprise Network Awards and last Friday walked away with the Future of Enterprise Support award for organisations with a turnover under £1 million turnover.

Chief executive Alex Till said: “We weren’t expecting it really, but it’s a good award for us to have.

“We were up against some big players but it recognises some of the novel ways we’ve been engaging with the community.”

The award citation said: “The imagination, innovation and creativity across Menta’s breadth of service offerings is evident.

“The organisation places a significant focus on young people through a number of successful projects.

“It continues to grow relationships with key national corporations for sponsorship of these projects and local networking events too.

“Menta also offers digital support and training as well as maintaining a more traditional face to face offering, and all is done successfully with a small team of just nine staff covering a large and diverse geographic area.”

The National Enterprise Network represents the enterprise support sector in England and in the awards, Menta were up against about 50 organisations across the country, including those representing cities.

It said: “Awards were presented to Network members to recognise excellence in the delivery of enterprise support and encourage the exchange of good practice.
