VIDEO: First look at new Bury St Edmunds recycling centre
The new Bury St Edmunds recycling centre opened this morning.
The new centre is situated in Fornham Road and replaces the Rougham Hill recycling centre.
Jonas Grist, waste operations officer for Suffolk County Council, said: "So far it's been really good. I have spoken to a few people who have said they are impressed how easy it is to use - not having to climb stairs, efficient and easy to access.
The new waste centre also features a re-use shop run by The Benjamin Foundation, which, Mr Grist said, 'sells and accepts all manner of things', including golf clubs, bikes and sewing machines.
Councillor Paul West for waste services at Suffolk County Council, said: "I am delighted that it's finally open. It is a modern and safe recycling centre. People don't have to climb up stairs and there is different entrances for HGV vehicles."
From October to March the centre is open 9am until 4pm every day apart from Wednesdays.
From April to September the centre is open 9am to 5pm except on Wednesdays when it is closed.
From May to August it is open until 7pm on Thursdays.
