Dragon Fest celebrates legendary creatures against the backdrop of West Stow Anglo Saxon Village and Country Park
Fire-breathing fictional beasts were brought to vivid life at an annual celebration of dragons at the weekend.
West Stow Anglo Saxon Village are hosting their 4th annual Dragon Fest celebrating all fiery beasts , including special guest Epico The Dragon. Epico the Dragon show Picture Mark Westley. (2691046)
Dragon Fest, at West Stow Anglo Saxon Village and Country Park, attracted more than 2,000 visitors across the two days who were able to enjoy puppet theatre, re-enactments and a host of other dragon-themed activities.
The Beowulf and Grendel Puppet Theatre was popular, as was special visitor Epico the dragon, who invited children to be a hero for the day and join him in his land of adventure. Meanwhile the Wuflings re-enactment group told tales of Arthurian legends.
Fire-breathing displays, dragon nest building, giant bubbles, face painting, archery, craft workshops, LEGO building and food and drink completed the timetable.
Lance Alexander, St Edmundsbury Borough Council tourist information centre and heritage operations manager, said: “We were delighted that so many visitors choose to come to the Dragon Fest over the weekend, especially with so much to offer in the region and the World Cup to contend with.
“There was plenty to see and do and we found that families were staying all day and enjoying the fine weather (tinged with an extra helping of hot dragon breath!).”
It was the fourth Dragon Fest.
