Salvage Hunters episode filmed at Aspal Antiques at Stonham Barns to be shown on Quest TV next week

The owners of Aspal Antiques at Stonham Barns have said filming for the Salvage Hunters television show, in the year the store opened, was 'very memorable'.

Presenters of Salvage Hunters, Drew Pritchard and John Tee, made the trip to Suffolk to visit the 'antique and architectural salvage outfit' at end of last year and found lots of retro and vintage items to talk about.

Alan Knight, one of the owners of Aspal Antiques, said: "We were approached during lockdown to see if we would host a visit when we opened the Aspal Antiques outlet here at Stonham Barns Park.

"We were just getting ready to launch at the new venue. We obviously said yes and the whole experience was very memorable. Drew and John where so friendly as were the film crew.

"It was a fabulous opportunity to talk to the TV experts about what we do and the current sales trends in Suffolk.

"The business is growing as result of a collecting revival that began in lockdown and is continuing with an increase in demand from people looking to decorate gardens and outdoor spaces with architectural feature pieces."

Alan, who owns the store alongside his wife Henrietta Lewis, and Alf and Wendy Faulkner, added: "Since the pandemic there has been a renewed interest in antiques and collectables.

"These heritage pieces are the UK’s treasure-trove, they adorn houses and gardens and are passed on through rolling-ownership for new generations to admire and enjoy. What could be more sustainable than pieces that span generations of families."

"The antiques market will always be strong - even in these challenging times – people understand the value of owning a little piece of history.’

The owners also have another antiques store: the Diss Emporium antiques shop.

You can watch the Salvage Hunters episode featuring Aspals Antiques on Wednesday, October 26, on Quest TV at 9pm.
