Our Bury St Edmunds Food and Drink Festival 2023: Everything you need to know about free event in town centre over the August Bank Holiday weekend




A free food and drink festival returns to a Suffolk town today, promising plenty of tasty treats and fun activities.

The Our Bury St Edmunds Food and Drink Festival will run over the next two days (Sunday, August 27 – Monday, August 28).

Sellers will be tempting foodies with everything from deep-fried Oreos to edible flowers.

What time will the food and drink festival start?

Today and tomorrow the festival will be open from 10am – 5pm.

There will be demonstrations on both days at the pop-up Stoves Cookery Theatre in the town centre, between 10am – 4pm. You can see the full timetable for both days below.

What food and drink will be available?

Mark Cordell, chief executive of Our Bury St Edmunds, is proud that the food and drink festival has become ‘such a key event in the foodie calendar’.

He said: “We have stall holders from as far as London and Cambridge booking their places as well as many well-loved traders from Suffolk and nearby market towns.”

Showcasing their food and drink at the festival will be: Cookie Barista, The Wine Cellar, Peck and Primal 8, Papakis Deli, Beautiful Beers and Morsi’s.

Mr Cordell added: “As well as food and drink stalls from around the world there’ll be the Farmer’s Market on Angel Hill.”

What is there for children to do?

Always popular with families will be the urban beach returning to Charter Square in the arc shopping centre.

Parents can pull up a deckchair while children happily play in the sand.

The beach will remain at the shopping centre until next weekend.

As well as the beach there will be other children’s activities including fairground rides, face painting and street entertainment.

Are dogs allowed?

Yes – very much so.

Dogs will be able to tuck into their own special treats at the a ‘doggy deli’.

Do you need a ticket?

No – the festival is absolutely free to enter.

Any money raised by events at the festival will go to St Nicholas Hospice Care.

The festival will be supported by Stoves UK, Shop Safe and Haart.
