Rougham Estate near Bury St Edmunds prepares to showcase sunflower spectacular




A Suffolk estate is preparing to throw open its gates to showcase nearly 90,000 sunflowers in a new venture.

Visitors are being invited to Rougham Estate, near Bury St Edmunds, from Thursday, July 29 to view the display of 88,000 sunflowers and pick some to take home.

With specially cut pathways, there is chance to enjoy a stroll through the flowers with photo opportunities thanks to a sunflower swing and a selfie picture frame.

There will also be picnic areas.

Amie Deane, events co-ordinator at Rougham Estate, said: “I’m so excited to see the wonderful sunflowers in full bloom, it’s going to be truly spectacular.

"Sunflowers are so beautiful, we wanted to do something to spread a little summer delight for everyone to enjoy.

"I can’t wait to see all the smiles and I hope everyone will love the sunflowers as much as I will.

"We also have exciting plans to expand our pick your own offering in the coming years.”

The sunflower field is just off the A14, junction 45 at Rougham, just outside Bury St Edmunds (postcode IP30 9JA), and will be signposted.

Admission and parking are free and toilets and baby changing facilities are available.

Stems will be from £2 each and payment is by card only.
