A loving daughter has had her head shaved in support of her mum, who is sick with cancer.

Sara Nicholas, a mother-of-four from Elmswell, said goodbye to her shoulder-length hair on Sunday, raising around £700 for Cancer Research UK and St Nicholas Hospice Care.

Her ‘proud’ mum, Sue Manning, who inspired the fund-raiser, was on hand to make the first snip.

Sue, 58, a former Stowmarket Leisure Centre swimming teacher and Norbert Dentressangle warehouse operative, was diagnosed with Stage III ovarian cancer last year.

Sara, 34, said: “People kept asking what they could do and there’s only so many boxes of chocolates you can get so I thought the best thing was to raise awareness, because ovarian cancer is a silent one and is hard to diagnose.”

“I wanted to show my support, for everybody really, because it’s not just my mum who’s suffering,” she added.
