Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds has been chosen to be part of the National Theatre’s Youth Festival




Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds Young Company will be one of just 300 youth theatres from across the UK to take part in the Connections festival run by the National Theatre.

The Connections festival will offer a unique opportunity for young people, post-GCSE, aged between 16-22.

Each year, as part of their youth festival, the National Theatre commissions 10 new plays for young people to perform, bringing together some of the UK’s most exciting writers and theatre makers.

The finished plays will be performed on stage at both Theatre Royal Bury St Edmunds and The Garage, in Norwich.

There will also be an chance for specially selected youth theatres to go on to perform their play at the National Theatre next summer.

No experience is necessary to join the ‘young, fun, dynamic group’ who enjoy theatre and performing.

The year-long festival will give young people the chance to work with professional directors on newly commissioned plays written by professional writers.
