Debenhams in Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich to reopen for massive closing down sale

Debenhams stores in Bury St Edmunds and Ipswich are due to reopen next month for a massive clearance sale before they close for good.

The shops are due to welcome back customers for the final time when retailers are expected to reopen from April 12 as lockdown measures are eased.

A Debenhams spokesman said the stock clearance at the two stores at the arc shopping centre, in Bury St Edmunds, and Westgate Street, in Ipswich, is expected to take four to six weeks.

They will then close permanently.

The company's 118 shops are to shut after Boohoo Group paid £55 million to acquire the collapsed brand out of liquidation.

The deal allowed the 242-year-old department store brand to survive but excluded its shops.
