Manager of New Bury Community Centre, in Bury St Edmunds, set to wing walk for Upbeat charity
The manager of a busy community centre is gearing up to wing walk for charity after losing seven stone.
Debbie Carthy, 49, who runs the New Bury Community Centre, in Bury St Edmunds, has raised more than £1,000 in sponsorship for heart support group - Upbeat.
The mum-of-four, who has previously completed a sky dive, said it had always been her dream to do a wing walk.
She said: “It’s always been on my bucket list but I have always been overweight. When I lost my weight I was like ‘Yes, I can do it now’.”
Debbie has been told it will feel like the equivalent of going between 80 - 110 miles per hour when she is balancing on the wing, for around 10 minutes.
She said: “It doesn’t sound a long time but it will if it feels horrible.”
Debbie chose to support Upbeat as she wanted to give back to a group which uses the centre on the Howard estate.
Members of the group will be cheering her on tomorrow when she takes to the sky in Bedfordshire - weather permitting.
Debbie, who lives on the Marham Park estate, can be sponsored here.
Her sponsorship total stands at 12 hundred pounds.
Upbeat exercise sessions run at the New Bury centre and the Old Community Centre in Long Melford.
