Bury St Edmunds couple get artsy with opening of new nail salon N&P Nails in The Traverse
The opening of an artsy new nail salon in Bury St Edmunds marks the culmination of nearly a decade-long career for a couple.
Acrylic nails, gels, art and extensions are some of the things on offer at N&P Nails, which launched in The Traverse on December 3.
Opened by Vietnamese couple Nyung Ha and Phuc Nguyen, it offers a range of services for both men and women.
Nyung, who has lived in the UK since she was 11, has been a nail artist for nine years, starting while she was a student in Norwich.
She previously worked at Hollywood Nails in Bury, but was encouraged to start a business by her wife, Phuc, who was originally from Go Cong.
The pair began looking for a premises at the start of last year, coming across their current unit in April.
They were attracted to the location as it lies in an area with high footfall, and the couple have been busy since they opened the doors.
Nyung said: “We’ve been overwhelmed by how positive the feedback from customers has been. They seem to love us and what we do.
“We get a lot of both men and women - who are usually brought in by their partners - so we try to offer a range of services that are suitable for both.
“The shop works perfectly for what we want to achieve. The front is typically used for manicures and other work on hand, while in the back we have a little area for pedicures and other foot work.”
The salon has been adorned with various paintings and sculptures made by Nyung, who does art on the side.
Customers said they really added to the charm of the building, creating a more welcoming atmosphere.
Nyung said working in salons gives her a chance to get in touch with her artsy side and allows her to really express herself.
She added: “We love it and I think that passion shows itself in the business.
“We’re incredibly thrilled to be able to do what we love, and look forward to welcoming more customers in the future.”
