The Hunter Club sets date for live gig return
The Hunter Club in Bury St Edmunds is getting ready for its first live gig in seven months.
Socially distanced indoor performances have been allowed to restart since August and the St Andrew’s Street South venue will have its first on October 17.
Sara Kathleen, venue manager, said: “I am planning one gig at the time because I am aware at any moment the government might change their minds and restrict things again.”
The venue has constructed its own bespoke ventilation system on site to do this gig and there will also be rules in place, also emailed to gig goers beforehand, such as wearing masks everywhere except when at their tables, no dancing and singing and table service for drinks and food.
The acoustic acts will also perform from the back of the stage, ensuring a three metre distance from the socially distanced audience.
Sara said: “The gig will be different but I have still tried to make it cool, and at the same time, as safe as we can.
“We are a grassroots music venue, we don’t pull in Coldplay, we focus on local musicians and we want to do this to help their mental heath as they have been left behind in all of this.
“We have jumped through about nine million hoops and have so many procedures to get to this stage and it feels good to be able to give them a venue again and hopefully we can do more, but it is one step at a time.”
Tickets for the gig are on sale now and can only be bought by emailing The Hunter Club through its website or emailing sara.kathleen@hunterclub.org.uk
