Children from schools in Bury St Edmunds open new Sainsbury’s Local on Moreton Hall

Schoolchildren grabbed a pair of giant scissors to officially open a new Sainsbury’s Local in Bury St Edmunds.

Children from Abbots Green Academy and Sir Peter Hall School, both on Moreton Hall, were invited by Sainsbury’s to take part in a drawing competition to design their ‘dream store’.

The winners, as judged by store colleagues, were then invited to go along and cut the ribbon.

The new store, which has created 20 jobs, opened in Slater Avenue on Thursday of last week.

A Sainsbury’s spokesman said they were delighted to open a new Sainsbury’s Local in the town, making it easier for customers to access their products.

“We hope our investment in the store, which has created jobs and a convenient new place for people to shop locally, will benefit the community for years to come,” they told SuffolkNews.

Both Abbots Green Academy and Sir Peter Hall School are part of Unity Schools Partnership.
