Child abuse doctor urged to admit extent of his crimes

A paediatrician who sexually abused a number of boys in his care has been urged to admit how many young cancer patients he abused.

Myles Bradbury, 41, is starting a 22-year prison sentence after being found guilty of child sex offences against 18 boys over a four and a half year period.

But at least 54 concerned parents and members of the public have contacted a helpline set up by the NSPCC after his arrest in July.

Of these calls, 12 have led to further investigations, but the consultant, formerly of Herringswell, has refused to admit the extent of his abuse at Addenbrooke’s Hospital, in Cambridge.

Detective Constable Claire Edwards said he remained calm but declined to comment in three separate interviews.

She said: “This has had a massive impact on the families. They were happy about the sentence but they are still picking up the pieces.

“We’ll never know how many children he abused.”
