Charity auction at Lacy Scott & Knight’s raises £7,000 for Riverwalk School

Children with special needs will be whisked away to a range of interactive experiences thanks to a charity auction by auction house Lacy Scott & Knight.

The official opening of the company’s extension at its Risbygate Street base in Bury St Edmunds has raised more than £7,000 for the GeeWizz charity which supports children and young people with disabilities or life-threatening illness.

The money will purchase a ‘Magic Carpet’ for Riverwalk School in Bury which will provides interactive sensory experiences for pupils.

Former England and Ipswich Town footballer and GeeWizz ambassador Terry Butcher cut the ribbon to the new premises which cost £350,000 and includes offices, a client area, waiting room and large reception area.

The charity auction featured a range of ‘lots’ donated by individuals and businesses.

Edward Crichton, fine art manager at Lacy Scott & Knight, said: “We had outgrown our existing facilities so the extension was crucial in maintaining our position as a leading national auction house.”

Jan Hatchell, headteacher at Riverwalk, said: “The Magic Carpet is such an important educational and sensory resource and will make a real difference to the quality of a disabled child’s education.” GeeWizz founder, Gina Long, said: “I would like to say a sincere thanks to Edward, the partners and all the team at Lacy Scott & Knight for supporting us in this fantastic way.
