A Bury St Edmunds’ distribution company has won a coveted national award - beating a host of industry giants to the title.

The non-food sales, marketing and distribution firm Robinson Young, of Eastern Way, has won the highly sought after Supplier of the Year Award from the Landmark Wholesale group.

To take the top title, the family-run Robinson Young, which employs more than 80 people in Bury and Thetford, had to overcome challenges from global giants such as Unilever and Coca Cola Enterprises.

The privately run business scooped the award at a ceremony hosted by Landmark Wholesale, the trading and marketing buying group for independent grocery wholesale businesses across the country.

Michael Robinson, managing director, said: “We are delighted to have won this award, especially as we are the only distributor ever to do so.

“Knowing every vote comes from the individual wholesale businesses that make up the group is a real honour.

“This award is for all the Robinson Young team.”

Martin Williams, Landmark managing director, said: “Many blue chip suppliers are vying for this top award.

“To win every box has to be ticked and achieve top marks. This requires great people offering excellent service for the whole year.”
