Car and motorbike collision in Bury St Edmunds




An accident that saw a section of a Bury St Edmunds road closed off for around three hours happened last night.

Police and a volunteer doctor from the Suffolk Accident Rescue Service (SARS) charity were mobilised to attend a serious road traffic collision on the corner of Westley Road and Flemyng Road, Bury St Edmunds at around 6.25pm.

The incident involved a car and motorcycle, with the male motorcyclist assessed and treated at the scene by the SARS doctor and paramedics from the East of England Ambulance Service.

An air ambulance was called to the site but the patient was sent to West Suffolk hospital, with a possible broken wrist, by land ambulance.

The site was then close off until recovery could be made of the Citroën Berlingo and Lex Moto 125 bike, with the road reopening at around 9.25pm.
