BurySOUND winners Suburban Minds to play first headlining gig in hometown Bury St Edmunds
BurySOUND 2016 champions Suburban Minds are playing their first hometown gig as headliners on Saturday.
The band, made up of singing guitarist Hal Holloway, guitarists Louis Tooth and Josh Huggard, bass player Toby Hill and drummer Harry Dale, are performing at the Hunter Club in Bury St Edmunds on Saturday May 21.
Harry said BurySOUND was a great experience.
“It was awesome,” he said, “we were not expecting to get anything out of it to be honest.
“We applied for the heats because it was a gig, a chance to get on stage and play.
“It was a huge surprise when we won it.”
To coincide with their headlining gig, the band are releasing their debut single ‘I wanna feel’.
“It’s a bit indie-pop,” said Harry.
“We wrote the single a long time ago when we started out.
“It’s a bit different from our other songs but it’s a good radio-friendly single and a good taster of what we are like.
“I hope people will like it.”
Harry said the band came together fully in June last year. “Me, Lee and Josh had gone to college together so have been best mates for years,” he said. “Then Louis got on board last year and we just went for it.
“Saturday will be our first hometown headlining show. “We are really excited about it plus we have the single out the same day too.
“It’s going to be a bit of a busy week.”
Suburban Minds will be joined by fellow BurySOUND finalists Milque, Sun Scream, The Cuts and Route 22.
