Bury St Edmunds railway station cafe: Owner reveals how injury forced closure

The owner of Off The Rails said breaking her neck was the final straw for the café, which closed in Bury St Edmunds railway station last week.

Ann Milsted said flooding, fire and criminal damage also hurt the business. However, it was an accident suffered last year that left her unable to work.

She said: "I am absolutely gutted but it wasn't viable.

"I needed emergency surgery. I am trying to recover but with a sad heart had no choice but to close the café. I need more treatment and haven’t worked for 11 months."

Ms Milsted helped out on Fridays and Saturdays before her injury. Since then the café's manager, who did not wish to be named, has been in sole charge.
