Bury St Edmunds town centre shop closes

A shop in Bury St Edmunds town centre has closed.

Jewellers Ernest Jones, in Cornhill, will not reopen following the coronavirus lockdown.

A sign on the shop window directs customers to sister brand H.Samuel next door or Ernest Jones in Braintree Village.

A spokesperson for Ernest Jones said: "Amid this challenging pandemic and fluid business conditions, we have accelerated a previous strategy to close some stores permanently starting this month.

"We are of course contacting our customers, in order to connect them with any orders or repairs that maybe outstanding from the store."

They added a new ‘Live Chat and Live Advice’ feature has been introduced to 'enable online customers to continue to receive five star customer service and have the in store experience from the comfort and safety of their very own homes'.
