Man, 18, pleads guilty to possessing blade after incident that disrupted Bury St Edmunds train services

A man has been charged after an incident involving a machete blade at Bury St Edmunds railway station.

Police arrested two men yesterday (Thursday, July 11) after a stop and search, that led to one resisting arrest and running onto the railway tracks. Trains were suspended throughout the altercation.

Aaron Neziri, 18, of no fixed address, has now been charged with possession of a knife/ bladed article. He was remanded and appeared before Ipswich Magistrates’ Court today (Friday, July 12) - where he pleaded guilty.

He has been remanded in custody for sentencing on August 2.

A 22-year-old man was also arrested on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.

The man, who remains in police custody, has subsequently been arrested on suspicion of four further offences: Actual bodily harm, grievous bodily harm, aggravated burglary and trespassing on a railway.
