Bury St Edmunds school receives conservation transformation from community group
A conservation group is transforming a Bury St Edmunds school with an array of new features.
Greener Growth has been commissioned by Riverwalk School to produce work designed to appeal to the senses including an indoor nature themed mural using different textured paints.
They are placing bollards and planting on the school’s turning circle, installing bird and bat boxes as well as insect hotels and outside nature shaped blackboards.
Greener Growth is also creating courtyards by sectioning off each of the classroom gardens.
The mural is an ongoing project and they plan to return to the school to carry out other work.
Headteacher Jan Hatchell said: “The pupils at Riverwalk are learning to engage with their environment at all times. We’re creating an environment that’s visually stimulating alongside the sensory experiences they require to engage.”
Greener Growth is trying to raise £2,500 to replace a trailer which was stolen earlier this month.
It has so far raised £775.
