Arrest over drunk and disorderly behaviour in Bury St Edmunds
A man has been arrested for being drunk and disorderly in Bury St Edmunds town centre.
Suffolk Constabulary said the arrest was made yesterday afternoon (Sunday, July 7).
The force said this breached a public space protection order and the man is currently in Bury St Edmunds police investigation centre.
The arrest comes just days after a business improvement district leader raised concern about a rise in street drinking and begging around town.
After the arrest, the police said: "We are working to deal with reports of antisocial behaviour within the town centre area. We would encourage residents to report any incidents that they witness by calling 101 or if appropriate 999."
