Bury St Edmunds menswear business to close town centre shop
A Bury St Edmunds menswear business is to close its town centre shop.
Dapper Fox Menswear has decided to 'change the nature' of the business and shut its Abbeygate Street store at the end of July.
However, in a message to customers today (June 26), it stressed 'this isn’t the end of Dapper Fox, only the end of our current physical address'.
It said: "Reflecting on the last five years of Dapper Fox, the progress we have made as a company would not have been possible without the support of our customers.
"The unprecedented nature of the Covid-19 pandemic and, in particular, the effect it will continue to have on the retail industry, has left us even more grateful for your support.
"However, it has also left us in a position where we have had to ask difficult questions about the future of Dapper Fox and its place on the high street.
"Although it has been a difficult decision for us to take, we have decided to change the nature of our business and permanently close the doors of our store at 55 Abbeygate Street at the end of July.
"We have taken this decision now whilst Dapper Fox is in the best position to fulfill our current obligations to customers.
"To all of the customers that currently have tailoring with us in-store, garments to collect/in production, or are expecting an imminent delivery - we will be contacting you directly with details of how we intend to fulfill your orders in the shortest time possible.
"This isn’t the end of Dapper Fox, only the end of our current physical address.
"Our made to measure service will continue throughout July and onwards. More information about the future of this service will be made available over the coming weeks.
"This does mean that a large closing down sale will take place at our Bury St Edmunds store.
"This sale will begin in-store tomorrow and we expect that our remaining stock will sell extremely quickly.
"Please still be mindful of others when you visit us and follow government guidelines where appropriate.
"We would love to see as many of you as possible over the coming weeks to thank you in person for your custom over the last five years.
"It has been our pleasure to serve you all as Dapper Fox, please continue to show your local high street the same support that you have shown us."
