Bury St Edmunds Divorce Centre is on track
Bury St Edmunds is now handling 40 per cent of all divorce applications in England and Wales following changes brought in earlier this year which created 70 new jobs.
In June the Bury Free Press reported that Triton House, in St Andrew’s Street South North, had become a new regional divorce centre and would be taking on duties from 45 divorce courts in London and the South East.
This week, following concerns raised over an alleged nine-week delay at the centre, a spokeswoman for HM Courts and Tribunals Service said: “The transfer of work from all 45 divorce courts in London and the South East to the Bury St Edmunds Divorce Centre was completed, as planned, in mid-September.
“The divorce centre is currently processing work within 10 days of receipt. We expect to issue all work within five days by the end of the year.
“We are aware that a member of staff incorrectly informed a member of the public that there was a nine-week delay in processing their case. We have apologised to the member of the public concerned and provided them with the correct information.”
