Bury St Edmunds Christmas Lights Switch On: Event well underway
The Bury St Edmunds Christmas Lights Switch On is well underway as the town prepares to officially turn the Christmas lights on.
Festive stalls, huskies, a big wheel, food and drinks, funfair rides and a large stage with carol singing is currently taking place in Cornhill.
Daniel Challenor, local hero who saved a man's life at work will switch on the lights tonight at 6.55pm.
Mark Cordell, chief executive of Our Bury St Edmunds, said: "Now the rain is gone it's a big relief. There is so much going on in the town. The lights will be switched on at 6.55pm live on BBC Look East."
Children from Hardwick Primary School, Guildhall Feoffment Primary School, Abbots Green Academy, Ickworth Park Primary School and Westgate Primary School will be singing throughout the evening on stage.
