Bury St Edmunds care home opens up new shop
Residents at a Bury St Edmunds care home have taken a trip down memory lane following the opening of an old-fashioned village shop.
Care UK’s Davers Court invited regional director Phillip Steyn to officially open the fun, new nostalgic store, which residents are working at.
Stocked with traditional confectionery, books, stationery and toiletries, the shop even has its own vintage-style record player for residents to enjoy whilst they enjoy their new space.
Davers Court residents are working to encourage independence as part of an ongoing project to provide a dementia-friendly environment at the care home.
Wendy Harvey, home manager at Davers Court, said: “We are delighted to have opened the doors to our very own village shop, with its traditional look and feel, it has created a buzz around the care home and it is fast becoming a hub of activity here.”
