Bury St Edmunds arrest following fail-to-stop pursuit
Police are appealing for witnesses following a fail-to-stop incident in Bury St Edmunds.
At approximately 3pm yesterday (Thursday, August 8), officers had cause to request a Toyota Yaris to stop in York Road in the town but it failed to do so.
Officers pursued the Toyota Yaris, which is believed to have been stolen.
The driver, a 19-year-old man from Bury St Edmunds, decamped from the vehicle but was arrested in Prince Charles Avenue on suspicion of a number of offences:
- Driving under the influence of drugs
- Dangerous driving
- Failing to stop for police when directed to do so
- Driving without insurance
- Aggravated vehicle taking
- Possession with intent to supply class A drugs
- Burglary
The man was taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre for questioning and has since been released on police bail pending further enquiries until Saturday, August 31.
An Audi A3 and a Ford Mondeo were damaged in the incident, however no one is believed to have been injured.
