Bury St Edmunds Market to stage pop-up museum curated by Lou Gridley

A pop-up museum will be staged in Bury St Edmunds Market on June 29 to celebrate 100 years of women serving in the armed forces.

This will feature photos, stories, information, memorabilia and relics of servicewomen from the area who have served in the past century.

Artist Lou Gridley is organising the set-piece alongside traders and West Suffolk Council.

A spokesman commented: "We invite veteran servicewomen to come forward to participate in the event and contribute material for our exhibition.

"We invite families of late servicewomen to share their personal stories and memorabilia with the community."

Anyone with photos or documents that could be exhibited is asked to consider getting involved with the pop-up museum, before the deadline of May 31.

The spokesman added: "We are also looking for veteran servicewomen who are happy to be interviewed by local school students as part of the pop-up museum history project."
