West Suffolk Hospital, in Bury St Edmunds, sees bumper Boxing Day of new arrivals after three babies were born on Christmas Day 2024
Maternity staff that worked over the Christmas period have celebrated with the parents of 11 festive new arrivals.
The NHS trust which runs West Suffolk Hospital, in Bury St Edmunds, has confirmed that three babies were born on Christmas Day and eight on Boxing Day, one of which was a home birth.
On social media, the West Suffolk Maternity Team congratulated the parents of Elsie and Arabella, who arrived on December 25.
Sharing photos of some of the new arrivals, born yesterday, the team posted: “It’s been a bumper Boxing Day for babies.
“These beautiful bundles arrived today and weren’t they worth the wait.”
Baby Mia, born to parents Verity and Phillip at 1.34pm on Boxing Day, was a particularly special birth for the maternity team.
This is because mum Verity works in obstetric theatres.
They said: “It’s always an extra special privilege to give care to your colleagues at such an exciting time.
Mia weighed 6lb 7oz, and is spending some time on the neonatal unit for some extra TLC after being born a few weeks premature.”
The other babies born on boxing day included Cooper who arrived at 5.19am.
Cooper, who had an excited big sister waiting for him at home, was born to mum Kerry and dad Scott - he weighed 7lb 11.5oz.
Harrison was born, shortly afterwards, at 5.37am to proud parents Katherine and Daniel, he weighed 6lb 3.5oz.
