A group of burglars who smashed into a bridal shop in Bury St Edmunds this week made off with just four right-footed shoes.

Police were called to Clare Bridal Studio in Hatter Street at around 12.35am on Thursday and found that the door of the shop had been smashed.

Karen Buckingham, shop owner, said: “I can’t believe that people would do such a thing as this.

“It’s pointless and they get nothing from it. It just causes a lot of problems and unrest in the town.

“It is just ridiculous and has unsettled everybody who works and lives here.”

The burglar also tried to break into the store’s tiara and jewellery cabinets but was unsuccessful.

CCTV footage of the break-in has been handed to police.

“What’s lovely is people’s support and the real community spirit that has come out of it. Everyone has been so nice,” said Karen.

A Suffolk Police spokesman said enquiries into the incident are ongoing.

Witnesses are asked to report the incident to Suffolk Police by calling 101 or via their website, quoting crime reference 37/42017/19.
