Bid to make changes at 1921, on Angel Hill, Bury St Edmunds, lodged

A bid to make changes at a town restaurant in a 16th century building has been lodged.

Zack Deakins has applied to West Suffolk Council to make changes to 19 to 21 Angel Hill, which houses fine dining restaurant 1921.

The plans detail a reduction in the restaurant space to give the applicants more residential room.

This would be achieved by removing a section of 1921’s dining area to form a new entrance space, which would also include reorganisation of the existing restaurant toilets and staircase.

The flat is currently accessed through the restaurant.

There are no plans to alter 1921’s shop front windows or signs.

The works would involve removing some of the building’s fabric which was installed in the 1980s and demolishing a section of roof timbers for the dormer.

The statement said these elements hold little architectural significance.
