Ben Wragge fund-raising event, Benni’s Chill, is back this weekend at The Bennet Arms, in Rougham, Near Bury St Edmunds

A music event celebrating the life of Thurston teenager Ben Wragge has a new venue this weekend – on what would have been his 21st year.

The family-fun event tomorrow, remembering the 13-year-old killed in an airgun accident in May 2016, will be at The Bennet Arms, in Rougham, near Bury St Edmunds, between 2pm and 11pm.

On the new venue Claire, Ben’s mum, said: “The other venues have been great hosting it before and The Bennet Arms is such a lovely place for Benni’s Chill this year.

“I went there for dinner one day and saw it has a big field out the back and just thought it would be perfect – it is going to be such a lovely day.

“We are going to have bands, with Thy Last Drop headlining, DJs, a craft area for children, face-painting, bubble wands, a barbecue and more.”

Claire said the support she continues to receive from those around her and fans of Benni’s Chill has grown and grown, so much so that she is thinking about possibly doing another in Thurston or the surrounding area later in the year.

She said: “Again, like I say every time, I am just thankful for the team and the people that help me every year and rally around to do this, they are amazingly beautiful.

“The team that help me put this together, the people that give up their time to bring things to the event for people to enjoy the musical acts and the people that always come to support the event, I just want to say a massive thank you to them all.”

Tickets for Benni’s Chill tomorrow at The Bennet Arms in Rougham, are £10 for adults and £5 for children over five – all the proceeds go to the Ben Wragge Skatepark Charity.
