Bury St Edmunds: Vespers Belgian Beer Bar could open and serve drinks until 1am




A Belgian beer bar in a Suffolk town could stay open into the early hours of the morning if new plans are approved.

Beautiful Beers East Anglia Ltd, who run Vespers Belgian Beer Bar in Bury St Edmunds, have submitted a licensing application to extend their opening hours until 1am to West Suffolk Council.

The company has asked that the bar in St Andrews Street South, is allowed to remain open and serve alcohol until the proposed time from Monday to Saturday.

The bar is closed on a Monday and Tuesday but currently is open 12pm to 11pm Wednesday to Saturday and 12pm to 9pm on Sunday.

Father and son team Max and René van den Oort, who also run Beautiful Beers on St John's Street, took on the premises and opened it in July 2022.

The Old Stables where Vespers Belgian Beer Bar is based, was previously a charity shop, a hardware shop and a saddlery.
