Police believe a man who stole a woman's handbag went on to burgle her home the same day.

The man stole the bag while the woman, in her 30s, was walking her dog near Lynford Hall Hotel between 9.10am and 9.30am on Thursday July 12. It contained cash and her house keys.

The man is described as white with a very slim build, about 5ft 8in tall, with a big nose, acne and blotchy cheeks. He was wearing baggy navy tracksuit bottoms, with a white stripe down the legs, and a dark blue zip up hoodie with its hood up.

When she returned home to Eyre Close, Bury St Edmunds, at about 12.20pm, she found jewellery, a toaster, kettle and scuba diving gear had been taken and the back door left insecure.

Anyone with information to either incident should contact police on 101 and quote crime 37/38997/18 for the burglary and 36/42453/18 for the bag snatch.
