Armed police called to incident in Bury St Edmunds town centre

Armed police were called to Bury St Edmunds town centre yesterday (August 29) following reports of a man with a weapon.
Officers responded to reports at 4.15pm of a man, believed to be in possession of a weapon, outside Hardwick Shopping Centre in Bury.
He left the area and armed police, a dog unit and police helicopter were dispatched to find him.
A 27-year-old man was arrested in Parkway at about 5.25pm on suspicion of possession of an offensive weapon.
He was taken to Bury St Edmunds Police Investigation Centre where he remains for questioning.
No weapons were recovered during police searches.
