Family of popular Thetford man Jimmy Boyce who died last month appeal for bikers to be part of his funeral

The family of a 'caring and loving' grandad who died suddenly last month are appealing for bikers to be part of his funeral procession on Friday.

Jimmy Boyce, 53, died in his sleep at his Thetford home on January 24, just weeks after being treated for a heart attack.

One of his five sons, who shares his name, described his death as a 'horrible shock' to his family, which also includes his nine grandchildren, his ex-wife and good friend Diane, and his mum Pam.

"Dad was the type of person that, once he had known you for ten seconds, he considered you part of his family," said Jimmy.

"He was so family orientated and thought the world of us all. He always put others before himself and kept on giving."

As well as being a truck driver, Jimmy was a keen biker and was a member of the Iceni Bikers Club when he was younger.

"We just want as many bikers as possible to come and give Dad a true biker's escort," said Jimmy.

"I know that my brothers and I will get really choked up to see it because we know how much he loved biking."

The family are asking bikers to meet at Barnham Cross Common near Thetford at around 1.30pm on Friday.

They will then escort Jimmy's coffin, which is to be transported on the back of an articulated lorry, to West Suffolk Crematorium.
