Annual honey show in West Suffolk brings a real buzz
West Suffolk Beekeeping Association hosted it’s Annual Honey Show at Wyevale Garden Centre last weekend.
The show had 28 different exhibitors showcasing 200 honey related products such as jars of honey, bee’s wax candles, honey cakes and biscuits for the public to sample and buy.
Activities included candle rolling, honey tasting and a chance to see inside a fully working hive and observe worker bees and even a queen bee herself.
The Bury St Edmunds based group, who has around 160 members covering an area from Brandon, Sudbury, Newmarket and Stowmarket, took the chance to showcase it’s members produce as well as promoting the craft of beekeeping.
Zac Blackmore, the association’s Chair, was very pleased with how the show had gone this year.
He said: “ Even though it hasn’t been a good year for honey production itself, we had a great turnout from the public.”
