An annual motorsport event returns to Bury St Edmunds town centre today as it welcomes a special guest.

Our Bury St Edmunds Motorsport East, which showcases award-winning competition cars, will be joined by the recently crowned ninja kart world champion, Mason Carberry, 7.

Mason’s kart, which he has been invited to take to South Africa to race, will also be on display.

Additionally, visitors can see vehicles from the recent Le Mans competition, which won first and second place, and the first electric super-car build in the UK.

Mark Cordell, chief executive of Our Bury St Edmunds, said: “The line up for this event gets better every year and I am delighted that these recent winners are able to join us.

“In addition, there’ll be a number of free attractions for all the family at arc shopping centre.

“And of course it’s a great opportunity to just make the most of our fabulous town centre and enjoy everything else that it offers too.”

The event will be held in the Buttermarket and the Cornhill from 10am to 4pm.

It will be co-hosted by Laura Cooledge, an ambassador for women in motorsport and club development officer at the Anglia Motor Sport Club.

Visitors are welcome to make donations which will go towards St Nicholas Hospice Care.
