Javelin in Bury St Edmunds is celebrating 30 years

One of Bury St Edmunds’ most popular shops is celebrating 30 years in business by holding a fundraising fashion show.

Javelin, which sells men’s and women’s clothes from its 16th century building in Abbeygate Street, will hold the event in store and in nearby restaurant Gastrono-me on October 10. Manager Jeremy Clayton has been at the helm since it opened in 1989 (originally as a sports shop) and said: “I can’t quite believe it has been 30 years. It has gone quickly. But we have also been through so many changes and revolutions in shopping, so it feels like a real achievement.”

The 30th party commences at 7pm, and also features canapés, a fashion show, music from a DJ and the chance to browse Javalin’s clothes - with all purchases on the night eligible for a 15 per cent discount.

All proceeds from the event will be donated to Barnardo’s.

Tickets cost £20 and are on sale in-store and online at: javelinonline.co.uk
