A café and two private suites suitable for funeral wakes have been built allowing the crematorium, which was built in 1989, to cater for groups of 20 upwards.

Royna Hill, manager, said: "Families come to us from far and wide to use our facilities and it has been felt for some time that we needed to offer more to our visitors – somewhere to get a cup of tea or coffee and a slice of home-made cake after a long journey, or lunch before or after a funeral.

"We also wanted to offer somewhere for our regular visitors to have some refreshments, too – those families that come to us to visit the resting place of their loved ones.

"We believe the café can become a welcoming place for families and friends to meet and gather on special days or anniversaries."

The café is open Monday-Friday, 10am- 4pm, and Saturday 10am-2pm.
