Air ambulance called and A143 Bury Road, in Stanton, shut after multi-vehicle crash




The air ambulance has been called to the scene of a multi-vehicle crash on a busy Suffolk road.

Police, the fire service and the ambulance service were alerted to the three-vehicle collision on the A143 Bury Road between Stanton and Ixworth, near Bury St Edmunds, at around 12.05pm.

A spokesperson for the fire service said three people were trapped in their vehicles who were removed by firefighters.

They added the air ambulance was called to the scene and three individuals were handed to the care of the ambulance, one of whom was discharged at the scene.

A police spokesperson said the road is closed in both directions.

Officers are awaiting recovery to remove the vehicle and Suffolk Highways to clear a diesel spill from the carriageway.
