Accolade recognises arts teaching excellence at Woolpit Primary School
A village primary school has been recognised for its excellence in arts teaching after scooping a prestigious accolade.
Woolpit Primary School, in Heath Road has been awarded an ArtsMark from Arts Council England for its achievements in drama, dance, music as well as art and design during and outside the curriculum.
Highlights for the school in the last year included pupils attending a Benjamin Britten concert at Thurston Community College.
They also took part in concert at The Apex involving a number of schools, enjoyed theatre workshops plus dance clubs such as contemporary and ballroom.
Headteacher Shaun Holland said: “We’re delighted to have received this award, which confirms our commitment to the arts.”
He added that it was the ‘culmination of a great deal of hard work’ by teacher Nani Yale, who led the application for the accolade, the wider teaching staff and the pupils.
