A14 near Westley reopens following car fire




Emergency services were called following a car fire on the A14 on the outskirts of Bury St Edmunds earlier this morning.

The fire service was called at 7.43am to the incident on the westbound carriageway between junction 40 and 41 near Westley.

Police were called at 7.45am and the road was temporarily blocked, but it has now reopened.

A Suffolk Fire and Rescue Service spokesperson said a job stop was put on at 8.14am and the cause of the fire was accidental.

A Suffolk Police spokesperson confirmed no one was hurt during the fire.

Following the fire there were reports of around a mile of traffic backed up.
