Hargrave Cross Country event raises more than £1,000 for Suffolk Sight and St Edmund’s Church
The Hargrave Cross Country event made a return for its fifth year on Saturday, March 22 with more than 80 people taking part to raise funds for Suffolk Sight and St Edmund’s Church.
Around 60 runners and 20 walkers tackled the 10k and 5k routes to raise more than £500 for the two causes.
Organiser Justin Rabbett said he was pleased a partially-sighted woman took part considering the event was in aid of a charity which supports people with visual impairments.
"That was a particularly heartening moment of the event for me," he said. "But the whole day was amazing and we’re so happy that so many people took part."
The day’s overall winners were Kevin Murphy, Jo Cole, Ryan Middleton and Constance Sibbering who were awarded hampers filled with donations from Nethergate Wines, Powters Sausages, bacon from Denham Butchers and more.
A spokesperson for Suffolk Sight said: “We'd like to thank Justin, and all of the organisers, for their hard work. The Hargrave Cross Country event was a huge success and we loved meeting everyone on the day.
“Suffolk Sight is an independent charity and donations from events like this will enable us to provide practical and emotional support for people living with sight loss"
