Police appeal after two-vehicle crash on A146 in Barnby, near Beccles, sees two people suffer serious injuries
Two people suffered serious injuries following a two-vehicle crash on a key route near Beccles.
Police were called the A146 in Barnby just after 12.35pm on Monday, January 8, following a collision between a white Vauxhall Crossland and a grey Volkswagen Sharan.
The ambulance service was also at the scene.
The driver of the Vauxhall, a man in his 30s as well as two passengers, a man and woman both in their 30s, all sustained injuries.
They were assessed by paramedics at the scene where their injuries were described as not life-threatening or life changing.
The male driver was arrested at the scene on suspicion of driving or attempting to drive a mechanically propelled vehicle whilst unfit through drink or drugs.
He was taken to hospital for a check-up and whilst there, a sample of his blood was taken for analysis and he was then de-arrested.
Enquiries continue pending the outcome of the blood test.
Since attending the hospital, the female passenger and the male driver’s injuries have been confirmed as serious but not life threatening.
Both have been transferred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital for further care.
The male passenger of the Vauxhall and the driver of the Volkswagen, a woman in her 50s, sustained minor injuries.
The road was closed following the crash to allow recovery and reopened just after 3.35pm on the same day.
Officers would like to hear from any witnesses to the collision and are also asking any motorists driving in the area with a dashcam in their vehicle to review the footage for any material that may be of assistance.
