Third man arrested in connection with attempted murder in London Road, Beccles – after Southwold and Halesworth men charged
A third arrest has been made after a man was stamped on and run over with a vehicle in Beccles – which is being treated as an attempted murder.
At about 2.45pm on November 18, a man in his 50s was attacked by a group of males in London Road.
They are alleged to have got out of a car, pulled the man to the ground and stamped on him before driving over his torso.
After this, the gang fled the scene.
When officers arrived, they found the man with serious injuries.
He was rushed to James Paget Hospital in Gorleston-on-Sea for treatment, before being transferred to Addenbrooke’s Hospital in Cambridge, where he remains.
Two men were arrested on November 19.
Nathan Baker, 19 of Quay Street in Halesworth, and Daniel Hermon, 26 of Market Place, Southwold, were later charged with attempted murder after the incident.
After their first hearing at Norwich Magistrates’ Court on November 20, they were remanded in custody and will appear before Ipswich Crown Court on December 18.
However, on November 30, a third man, 27, was arrested in connection.
He was taken to Great Yarmouth Police Investigation Centre for questioning.
He has been bailed until February 21, 2024.
