Hundreds vote to decide future of Beccles parking restrictions
More than 200 residents of Beccles have already voted in a survey to decide the future of parking restrictions in the town.
On Saturday Beccles Town Council invited residents to have their say on what they would like to happen to an area of parking made the subject of restrictions last year to improve social distancing.
An emergency traffic order was introduced along New Market in the town between QD and Barclay's.
"We put the vote to residents because we believe it's important for them to have their say before we make a final decision," said Paul Cunningham, town clerk.
The survey will remain open until the end of the month.
Restrictions to the area will be lifted in May 2022 in conjunction with government guidance.
The options include having double yellow lines in the bay, single yellow lines and temporary parking times which last either 30 minutes or an hour.
In the long term, the town council wishes to hold a more detailed far-reaching survey which will take into account transport and town centre changes.
