Three people taken to hospital after early morning crash in Beccles Road, Bungay




Three people have been taken to hospital after a crash in the early hours of this morning on a Suffolk road.

Fire crews from Loddon, Bungay, Beccles and Lowestoft South were called to Beccles Road, in Bungay, at 3.14am after reports of a crash involving a Volkswagen Polo and a stationary Toyota Corolla.

A spokesperson for Suffolk Fire & Rescue said that firefighters had to use hydraulic rescue equipment to free the driver of the vehicle.

Initially, it was believed that the driver of the vehicle, a man, had sustained life-threatening injuries. However, it was later determined the injuries were not life-threatening or life-changing.

“Three ambulances, a senior paramedic in a response vehicle and the East Anglian Air Ambulance attended a road traffic collision on Beccles Road in Bungay just after 3.15am today," a spokesperson for the East of England Ambulance service added.

"An adult man and adult woman were transported by land to the Norfolk and Norwich University Hospital for further assessment and treatment, while an adult man was conveyed, also by land, to the James Paget Hospital with minor injuries.”

The road reopened at approximately 9.45am.
